I tried to save my friend from drowning but his hands were wet and slick. I fought for him as I would want fought for me. It was he that fate had picked. Portending old memories keep taking longer to recall as they bend and coil weaving in and out of ditch and sky. Landing in the hands of faith or hate. It's the impossibility of both guarding myself from the rabid dogs next move and opening up the lilies that has me planted here. Hold my hand and please walk these streets like we did when I was ten. With sunshine and flashing youthful eyes. The guards footsteps rang and as they stood in front of us, it was as if it happened a long time ago but took moments, lifetimes for me to process. I remember instinctively hoping that he's after me when he stopped us at the corner shop. I'm sorry I had go someplace else as he brought you to your knees. As I looked down at you, my protector, and now you needed me. This man that was once thought to help, destroyed all that I believed. The tears strolled strong all along the curvature of my face. Your face wincing but never week. How inhumane the human became I was inscribing on my stone As I watch the life squeezed from you. All my strength dropped from my heart and hollow became thy shell. Only human beings would believe such needless suffering comes within his kingdom. Beyond those hills lays my grave and I join it willingly. Not without tearing at my skin do I wake and dress each morning.
