His Land

he lived.
amongst the trees and
the children of the
fathers that had killed
his own.
contempt grew
and reined, his
friends and enemies
from the hatred they
had sown.
royalty abashed
then swelled within
him until his own
fears had grown.
he walked
and pursued
with his destiny
and his pride
hand in hand
only fate and he
knew as it grew
that he would some day
lead his own land.
